“Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?” is a game show hosted by comedian Jeff Foxworthy and produced by Mark Burnett (“Survivor”) and ZOO Productions. It measures adults’ lack of knowledge, as revealed by how much they’ve forgotten since grammar school. Grown-ups find themselves in a classroom setting, revisiting their youth, as they tackle subjects they were taught years ago ranging from art to geography and math to social studies.

The adults do get some help — in the form of real fifth graders who provide advice, and often seem to know more than the contestants.

New episodes of “Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?” are scheduled to broadcast in September. In the Los Angeles-O.C. area, the show will air five days a week on Fox/channel 11 and Tuesday nights on My Network TV/channel 13.

  1. I’ve been a teacher for over 25 years and would love to meet Jeff Foxworthy plus try to win enough money to retire! Love those intelligent 5th graders and their enthusiasm. Going to California for auditions is no problem as I have family there. I am a Montana teacher who once won the showcase on The Price is Right! I’ve been a coach, a DJ, a secretary,a customs inspector on the U.S./Canadian border……bottom line, I love trying new things and jumping into adventures. I believe I would be a fun contestant on Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader!! :)

  2. In elementary school I was very shy and had difficulty answering questions in class. However, I have overcome and now have a masters degree and am married with a beautiful little girl. I would love to be a contestant and encourage kids that it is great to speak out in school and learn! This is a wonderful show and have enjoyed it since the beginning!

  3. I would like to request that my daughter be on your show. She is 33 years old and has a masters in education. She currently works for Grand Canyon University as a director. She has two children who follow in her footsteps. Her oldest son has been in his schools district spelling bee champion two years in a row and has started his schools Rubik’s cube competition. Her youngest has gotten straight A’s since he started school and I think that she would be a role model for all of her students at G. C.U. and showing that continuing your eduction leads to great things.

  4. I would love to be on Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader with Jeff. I live in Rockville, MD and in 2012 I appeared on Who Wants to be a Millionaire. Meredith Vieira said I was, “one of the most popular contestants ever on the show” and in a personal note sent to me she said, “thanks for the great TV.” Needless to say i have a lot of charisma and kept the audience cheering. Please notify me if you are doing auditions on the east coast.

  5. I am so glad this show is back! I am from a small town in Texas and just finished my first year teaching Kindergarten! I had the opportunity to teach 5th grade last year, and they were such a fun group to be around! While it would be EXTREMELY embarrassing to flunkout as a teacher on this show, the fun and reward is worth the risk! My husband and I have been married for almost a year now, and we have already started putting as much money as we can aside for a house in the future. It would be so amazing to have some help with that and possibly speed up that dream, whatever amount it may be. We have been on such a limited budget because of that, but we would love to be able to do more for our family and friends and our students at school. Those 5th graders on the show are so great!!

  6. I am a seat Design Engineer and am working on my masters degree in management.
I always received good grades and would love to be considered for a contestant on your show.

  7. Greetings.
My name is Katy Whitacre and I am a nursing student in San Antonio, TX. I am also working on my first reference article on neurosarcoidosis, a rare immuno-neurological disease, my mom was diagnosed with a could of years ago. If chosen for casting for are you Smarter Than A Fifth Grader I will donate my winnings to Neurosarcoidosis research and awareness.

    Thank you for your consideration!
    Katy Whitacre

P.S. I am trivia buff and 5th grade was my favorite year of primary school.

  8. I am a real life rocket scientist. Bachelors degree in Aerospace Engineering. However I am far from being a nerd. I am handsome and photogenic. I am sure I can give your audience in the studio and at home someone they can relate to and cheer for.

I have a successful engineering business in south Florida and I am trying to buy my first house. I would give it my all so that I can buy that house. Thank You very much!!

  9. My fiancé and I will be married in July 2015, she works as a 5th grade teacher for the last 8 years holding a masters degree in education in leadership. I would love for you to consider my future wife as a contestant. She works at a low income school district and loves every minute of it, she always tells me should wouldent change a thing about her job placement, she says it’s the “simple things” that make her happy at her job, and I think her kids would love it.

  10. I am a hardworking mom of 2 amazing kids. My son graduated from UCSC and my daughter is graduating from UC Santa Barbara in June and was accepted to law school in the Fall. All this success comes with lots of debt. I personally incurred most of the debt as I told them they could go to college anywhere they wanted if they could get accepted! It had been absolutely worth it. So I NEED to be on a game show to win money to help pay off their student loans!!! I have great energy and love love games shows. It would be a dream to get to be on “Who’s Smarter Than a 5th Grader”. My story would be a great one for the kids on the show too!

  11. I am a Space Scientist and an Inventor and yes, I’m also a woman! Yeah, go women….we are smarter than men and I am definitely smarter than a 5th Grader….duhhh!

  12. I am a senior studying Engineering Student at Texas A&M University. I really love school, love reading and love games and trivia. I would love to be in the show! I would love to test my knowledge of all the things I learned in elementary school!!!

  13. I am writing to request my son be on “Are you smarter than a 5th grader”
He was (and is) in the Charlotte, NC office of IBM when Jeff Foxworthy was with IBM in Atlanta
    Jeff’s e-mail is: Jeff LeVie/US/Geodis/IDE
He is intelligent and although I don’t think he ever met Jeff Foxworthy during their mutual times @ IBM, I believe he would be a good contestant on: ARE YOU SMARTER THAN A FIFTH GRADER

  14. I would really enjoy being on “Smarter Than a 5th Grader”. I look forward to the opportunity to shine.

  15. I am Beulah Richards teaching Math to 12th graders. I was born and raised in India and with the greatest of difficulty received college education, always being a straight “A” student.

I have taught Math, Physics, Chemistry and English at the high school level in India and English at the University level in Bangkok, Thailand. I would love to be a contestant in the “Are you smarter than a 5th Grader?” show and I am sure I will prove to be truly smarter.

I will greatly appreciate your consideration for an audition to the show. One tenth of my winnings would go as tithe to my church and other charities. Awaiting your favorable reply. Thank you for your time.

  16. “Are you smarter than a 5th Grader?” is a fantastic show that is a fun way to learn and test one’s knowledge as one walks down memory lane.

I will be a unique contestant for your show as I was born and raised in India, denied the education that I desired, as women were denied higher education in those days. Throughout my life I have been swimming against the current, and successfully managed high school education in an American school through scholarships, completed my bachelor degree with honors in Math, Physics, Chemistry, and Teaching and my master degree in English. Stepped out of the country to work in Bangkok, Thailand as a high school Physics teacher and a professor of English in Assumption University. I came to the US in 2003 and have been a Math teacher since then, now teaching Math to 12th graders at Trevor Browne High School, Phoenix union High School District, in Phoenix, AZ.

I would love to be a contestant and honored to meet in person Mr. Jeff Foxworthy, an exceptionally hilarious host, whom I watch on this show and in “The American Bible Challenge”. From whatever I win, one tenth will go to God as my tithe, to my church, my school and various charities that I regularly send money to. The US is truly a land of opportunities. “God Bless America”!

  17. I was a teacher for six years and taught six subjects, so nothing would make me happier than to be a contestant on the show. I watch and record every episode while testing my own knowledge. I would fly out there in a heartbeat if I had the chance.

  18. I would like to represent the farmers and ranchers of America, although at this time I am retired, I still run a few cattle on the ranch and my wife and I could really use any money I could make on the show. I am well liked in the community and retired as a Paramedic from McCurtain County, Oklahoma in 2005. I was in the Air Force for 8 years during the Viet Nam War and flew air rescue missions. I believe I am smarter than a fifth grader and know the majority of the answers when I watch the show.( Love the show)

  19. Hi, I am from India and have been living in this country since 1999. I love this country so much that I became a US citizen. I watch this show every opportunity I get. I am in IT and would like to believe that I am smarter than a fifth grader although I am a little weak in US History. I would love to be on this show, a little extra money always helps. Please contact me if you want to do an audition.
    Thank you.

  20. Believe it or not, I am a 78-year-old man who writes books, recently built his own home, stays on top of national and world affairs, just got elected to public office… and is a high school drop out with a doctorate in school leadership and administration…living in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. It would be fun to see how much elementary stuff I remember. I have plenty of personality.

  21. I watch this show every chance I get! I just wanted to say that the show is fantastic and entertaining. Mr. Foxworthy is an exceptional host and he really captures the suspense and excitement inherent in this trivia contest. If you are willing to entertain an audition from a law student in the Midwest, I would do whatever it takes! I would even fly out to LA to audition, or we could use Skype in order to capture some of my energy and excitement. I’m not an Ivy League guy, but I am a risk-taker and I would love to go for it all! I know I can make it to the top, and I hope I have a chance to show you what I’m made of!

I love watching and playing along with your show and have been a Jeff Foxworthy fan for manyh years. I would really like to be on your show and let the world see that just because you’re over 60, you’re not over the hill.

  30. You need to try a grandma out as a contestant.it has been a long time since the 5th grade for me,but my memory of school information is not half bad. I am 75 years old with 16 grandchildren. I have helped some of them with homework and they got good grades with that assist. Try for spry!

  34. I am an avid reader of biographies, economics, math, and military history so geography is not terra incognita. Also my father was a professional navigator. I studied chemistry and math in college, worked as a seabee in the navyy and was also a NASA certified electronics tech. My knowledge of soap operas and romance novels, however, is very limited. I have been a toastmaster for over 30 years and performed opera on stage, so looking like a fool in front of a national audience is nothing I have not done before.

  35. I am an 8th grade honors student and I just learned about transpiration today. That was a 3rd grade nature question on your show!

  36. To whom it may concern,
My name is Andrew Morse Gaudio. I would like to be a contestant on this show. I am currently a graduate student at the University of Connecticut, who is obtaining a master’s degree in Medieval Studies (specifically in meieval literature and medieval history) this may. I will also be attending Simmons College in the Boston area for a master’s of library science to be a college librarian. My interest in history and literature coupled with a future career as someone who organizes books and information would make me a good candidate for your show.

I am currently engaged to my girlfriend whom I met during my junior year at Bates College, Lewiston, ME. My fiancé is currently a graduate student obtaining her counseling psychology degree from Boston College. She is completing her counseling psychology internship practicum at McLean Hospital, a Harvard Medical School affiliate. We would love to be on your show!

  39. I’m a 58 year old male living in Redding, Ca. and went back to college at the age of 55. I did much better there after 35 years of life’s experience and the knowledge I gained along the way. A big factor also was wanting to be there. I’ve noticed that you don’t have too many contestants my age on your show. Are you afraid that we may know more than the youngsters you have as contestants with all the college degrees that flunk out. I’ve been unemployed for three years and could use the money, plus show America that people my aren’t useless. Please give me a shot on “Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader” I’ll give you a good run.Thanx.

  40. I didn’t start the aeurmgnt. The so called pro gamer girl did.I don’t start aeurmgnt’s. I try to refrain from such things. However, it is not in my nature to simply ignore one that has been started.

  41. My name is Kelly Odem and I am engaged to Jake kleinbach. We are recently engaged as of September 3rd 2011 and we are trying to pay for our own wedding next year, so being on this show could definitely help us with that! We are both 24 years old and I am a preschool teacher so I would love to test my knowledge! I think we make a great team and this would be an amazing test before marriage.

  42. I am a huge fan of the show and also a hillbilly redneck from West Virginia who would like to test my wits against fifth graders. Although it’s easier I am certain being an arm chair quarterback, I usually get more than eighty percent of the questions right when I watch the show and would love the opportunity to be on your show.

  43. I am an English Education major @ Mississippi Valley State University. I was accepted 5 Mississippi universities. I would be a great contestant because i have a sense of humor & i will be the 1st contestant from mississippi. (i think)

  46. I wanted to respectfully address the January 8th comment above. I literally just finished watching the episode that asked about buddhism and the question was about the “origin of buddhism” not the origin of Buddha himself or his birthplace. In any case, as an accountant, this show has even been great fun to watch and play, and if it were still casting, I would have loved to be a contestant!!

  47. Dear sir/madam,
I watched your program today. I am not sure when it was first broadcasted but I was very disappointed to see the answer of a question. Question was concerning the origin of Buddhism. Two answers came up, China & India. I was so much disappointed to see that you guys are running such a big program and don’t even know where Buddha was born! Buddha was born not in India but in Lubhini which is in NEPAL. Please do a little research before stating something as a fact.
May I humbly request you to correct the mistake?
By the way, your program is very entertaining. I live in Glendale, CA.
    Sincerely,
    SURYA M. BHANDARI

  48. I feel I would be an awesome contestant for “Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader”. I am a 30 yr old mom of 3 and currently engaged to the man of my dreams. My family watches the show all the time and I sometimes surprise myself with how often I get the answers right. I am outgoing and I loveto have fun. Win or lose, it would be a great experience and an honor to be on the show. Thank you for your consideration.

  49. I am the village idiot, but I still seem to get almost all the questions right. I’ve got a pretty good sense of humor. I might just act like a fifth grtader on the show. What’s an IQ? Duh! I’d love to be on your show.

  50. I would be great for the show because I am DEFINITELY smarter than a fifth grader! I play along with the show and I get almost all of the answers correct! All of my friends will agree that I’m very energetic and bubbly! I would be the choice for a fun and entertaining episode! You would not regret choosing me!

  51. I should be considered for the FOX – Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader, because I know I’m smarter. I’m confident that I can win. My family age I play along with the show. I get majority of the questions right, including the one without multiple choice. I know that I’ll be a great candidate for the show.

  52. I watch the show everyday, I have done very well. I feel I am smarter than a 5th grader. Please consider me for the show. Thank you.

  53. My 10 year old stepdaughter and I watch your show all the time. For some reason she is amazed at my knowledge and success rate at anwering your questions. Under intense pressure from her I am throwing my hat in the ring to become a contestant on your show. Thanks for your time and consideration.

  54. I adore this show and watch it quite frequently! Also,I have family (cousins) in the 3rd to 9th grade range, who I often spend time with. I hear some of the things they are learning in school, and it amazes me how much I have actually forgotten! (I doubt I’ve picked up anything that they’ve told me, either, haha). I’m not afraid to be a little silly on TV, and I love educational questions (haha, I know I’m a little bit of a dork)! Please consider me–I am a 28 year old female who has “Be on a Game Show” on her bucket list. Would love to have this opportunity to see if I am smarter (or not smarter!) than a 5th grader!

  55. Hi, I would like to be a contestant for your show “Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader”. I watch your show regularly and really enjoy the show. I enjoy brain challenging games and would love to prove to myself that I am smarter than a 5th grader, after all, I did graduate pharmacy school! My wife and I have three boys, 15, 22, and 23. We have enjoyed raising our boys, supporting them in sports and school. Winning some cash could go a long way to help us finish with our commitment toward our kids’ education. I look forward to hearing from you and meeting Jeff Foxworthy. Sincerely, Carl Satton

  56. I am a principal of an at-risk school where the kids often believe that they cant be successful. I would like to teach them about taking a risk at looking “not smarter than a 5th grader” but having confident to try things that are hard but meaningful. I would love to find a way for the kids to take part in the show (in the audience/tally buttons to be the “help”/etc. so that they can also experience what goes into making a TV show. My students do not live where they are offered very much enrichment. I would be splitting the money with the kids by creating scholarships for them with the winnings. Also, I am an adorable grandma who thinks she is still young and full of useless trivia from my 12 years of lessons from nuns!!!

  57. My hubby Frank should be on your show. He loves, it, has a great sense of humor (very dry & funny!) and he does pretty good on the answers when we watch it. He has worked the same job most of his life and deserves some excitement lol! :o) ~ Deb
PS We’ll surprise him! What do ya think??

  58. My dad should be on your show because he the reason I made it to fifth grade. He has helped me with math. I know I can always count on him to give me his full support and help when i need it.

  59. Hello. I am currently a freshman at Auburn University in Alabama. I graduated John Carroll Catholic High School in the top 10% with a GPA of 4.3. I also got a 30 on the ACT and a 1910 on the SAT. I am a Renaissance person but my most favorite subjects are math and science. Along with Jeopardy!, this is my most favorite game show(and I watch a TON of game shows). I have the DVD and the Nintendo DS version of the game. I watch it every time I get the chance. I was really excited when it aired on GSN recently. Being a contestant on this show would be a lifelong dream and $250,000 would do wonders for my mother. Also meeting Jeff Foxworthy would also be worthwhile and exciting. In fact, being here and Jeopardy! are two things I want to cross off my “list” before I die.

  60. i am a three time combat vet in the theater of iraq, and recently on unemployment. i have enrolled at collage, i am engaged so your engagement show would be perfect for us. let me show you that the army man can be smarter then a 5th grader,,,

  61. I am 25 years old. I feel that I am a smart guy until I watch your show, then I realize at the end, I’m always the one saying ‘I am NOT smarter than a fifth grader’ along with the contestant. I’m corky, coocky, and full of energy. I have always been on my own financially, and have never caught that ‘break’ in life you hear people talking about, and I would LOVE to get that chance!

  62. I really enjoy the show! I am a high school educator who loves to work with kids. My students would love to see me represent our school on national television. Lastly, when I was in elementary school, I doubled from the 4th grade to the 6th grade! I was smarter than a 5th grader then and I am smarter than a 5th grader now!

  63. I am a full time college student currently in my senior year. I love watching your show and have always wanted to be one of the contestants. It’s been a while since I’ve been in the 5th grade but I believe that I have enough knowledge to compete in the game. I am very determined and competitive. I haven’t really seen that many young contestants on your show especially in college so it would be interesting to have a college student play. I live in Bayonne New Jersey but have traveled to Los Angeles in the past. I would really love it if I get to be a part of the show.

  64. Hello:

I am an Engineer who graduated from Engineering school at the age of 20 from San Diego State University. I attended only one year of High school here in the US, so picking me would be a a good way to see if someone who attended high school overseas and college in America is “Smarter Than a fifth Grader”. I am charming when I have to be, quite when I need to be, talkative if necessary, not at all dumb (Been doing fine as an consulting engineer with clients all over the world). Oh and I have bever been accused of not being good looking! I have a 50th birtday coming soon, it would be a good birthday gift to get the audition, and nail it! BTW, I am a San Diego resident, but do have roots in the LA area.

  65. I am retired, , 70 years old, a Life Member of American Mensa, have always enjoyed acquiring knowledge, and enjoy Jeff Foxworthy., as does my wife, VeraLouise, 68, another active Life Member of Mensa. We have been married since March 10, 1985.

  66. I am very competative and my knowledge is extremely vast. I do the USA Today crossword everyday and am able to know all the answers for the majority of the time. Me and my fiance are planning on getting married next year in June! I fell in love with her from the moment I first laid eyes on her! If you pick me, I will take all the risks necessary to give my future wife the best honeymoon and life for the rest of our lives!

  67. Just saw an episode of the show with Paula Dean. One question was … Who was the first President to occupy The White House? Technically … John Adams was not the first President to live in The White House … at various times in history, the White House has been known as the “President’s Palace,” the “President’s House,” and the “Executive Mansion.” President Theodore Roosevelt officially gave the White House its current name in 1901. So, technically, Theodore Roosevelt was the first President to occupy “The White House!”

Oh, and though I have not been able to verify this … according to my History Class, so many decades ago, The White House was originally called “The Grey Palace”.

  68. Hi , You should pick me to be on your show …. I am at least smarter than a 1st grader , I know this because I always ace your 1st grade questions ..lol .. 69. After 40+ years in the chemical industry, this 70 year old decided to retool instead of retire. It was time to “Give Back” for all the many blessings I have recieved. Currently teaching chemistry at Hope International School in Phenom Pehn, Cambodia. Last year I taught at Bucharest Christian Acadamy in Romania. Of course, it is impossible for me to get to LA without help, but school is out during several longer periods during the year. Send me an e-mail if this looks interesting to you.

  70. I am tring to nonanate my teacher Danielle Woody to get on are you smarter than a 5th grader. She has told us many times that she does not have very much money so I brought up the subject of the show. She was so happy and all my classmates were to. She has a very good heart because 80% of the money is going to our classroom eduaction nomatter how much she wins. All I ask is that we can atleast have a chance to adution on the show. Thank you for taking the time to read this.

  71. I would like to be considered for an audition because I’m enthusiastic, energetic and have a bubbly personality! I’m a mother of 2 young elementary & pre-school aged boys. Love children and support education to the fullest! Thank you very much for your time and consideration!

  72. I’m a teacher and kids always love knowing things the teacher doesn’t know. But I’ll give them a run for their money!!

  73. My name is Angela reynolds, and I am a very interesting/weird person. I can be very entertaining and I love to have a lot of fun!
. I live in Universal City, Texas and am only 18 years old. Trust me, you’ll regret it if you don’t choose me for the show.

  74. I am still waiting for a call!! I did a screen test a couple of years ago and the producer said they would probably call me in 3 weeks and they never did :( I still REALLY want to be on the show!!! PLEASE CALL ME! I am a gymnastics coach from Temecula Ca and work with smarty pants 5th graders every day!! I need to show them that yes, I actually do know more than them! I’m also very short and have always been the shortest in my class & this would be my first time being the tallest in 5th grade!! Hope to hear from you soon!!

  75. In my line of work I have met Walter Cronkite, SIr John Major, President George W Bush, and other leaders. They are very smart people and I discoved, so am I. My husband and I watch the show all the time and for 60+ people, we do very well with your questions. We don’t remember having astronomy in 2nd grade, but alot has changed since we were n school. I believe I could do well. WIll you give me a chance?

  76. I don’t want to be on the show. I couldn’t find any other way of commenting on a certain episode. On September 13, 2011, a question was asked to the viewing audience about which state sold more autos and auto parts. One of the clues was Tennessee; however, it was spelled Tennesee. I thought it was too funny considering the type of show that it is. I still think it’s a great show!!! BTW, spell check is a great feature on a computer!! LOL!!

  77. There’s no doubt that i’m not smarter than a 5th grader!!!! I’m a psychiatrist with manly good looks and a great sense of humor :) I am a runner and I love to play sports with my daughters. Behind all of those AWESOME traits i’ve got a pretty big brain up there! I always watch 5th grader with my girls and they seem to be very impressed by how much I know. I would love to win all of that money because my little daughter has cleft/lip pallet and has been needing tons of medical care which really took a bite out of the bank account. Aside from that, PLEASE let me be in the show!

  78. I’m an Air Force pilot select about to graduate from Brigham Young University. I just had my first child and we could use the extra cash that I would win. If I can be a pilot for the Air Force I think I can handle elementary school questions.

  79. Hi my name is Anthony reynolds im 22 years old. My fiance clairissa myers (21 years old) and I live in Bakersfield ca. We have a beautiful son named Aiden Reynolds his birthdate is February 18th 2011. Im fun, comedic, loud and always exciting to be around. My fiance and I would love to be on this show and know the audience everywhere would love us. I can send pictures of us and our son. Our son is full of energy with blonde hair blue eyes and the best smile. Thank you

  80. I always believed I am plethera of useless information. Little bit of knowledge about alot of things, expert of none. :-) I love to read, graduate college with a 3.6 GPA, and I have great jokes!

  81. I am dying to get ion this show! Will I win? I pray so (I sure could use the money!). But, the show looks like great fun and I would especially like to meet Jeff Foxworthy. I am hoping to hear from you. Be blessed.

  82. I should be considered for an audition because I’m outgoing and I’m a smart ass and would love to crack jokes with Mr. Foxworthy if I get on the show. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and work for the County of San Bernardino. I have a 16 year old daughter and it would be fun to go on it, OR u guys should have a mother/daughter show. That would be perfect!!! I like to answer all the questions while I’m on the couch so let me see if I can do it in person!! Please!!!!

  83. Educated only in Europe–self taught in America. I am witty, quick thinker and have quick answers.

  84. It was about the easiest 5th grade question you have ever had. It is Nikola Tesla . . . NOT “Nikolai” Tesla as Foxworth said. The name “Nikola” is normally Serbian while “Nikolai” is normally Russian. Since Tesla’s father was a Serbian Orthodox priest and not a Russian Orthodox priest, that should be pretty simple to keep straight.

  85. I watch the show every day and think how can these educated people not know the answers. I am a college graduate and still get stuck. I laugh out loud when I get it wrong. I am outgoing, fun, smart ( I think), and have always dreamed of being on a game show. I would love this.

  86. Look I am actually just looking for a way to contact the makers of the show. I found two errors on two shows I recently watched. At one point a contestant was asked what the sum of the two lowest prime numbers are? The contestant said 3 and one of the kids said 6. The show host said that one person was correct and that it was the kid. This is incorrect, as far as I know the two lowest prime numbers are 2 and 3, because 1 is not considered prime. The sum of 2 and 3 is 5 the last time I checked not 6. The next show asked a contestant true or false is a Falcon a species of Hawk. The answer was revealed as true. This is incorrect. Falcons and Hawks are two completely different species. In fact the two breeds do not converge until the Order level of the Taxonomic Scale. They have a different Family, Genus and Species. I felt in a show that is supposed to stress education you should get your facts straight.

  87. I have a question for you. in 2000 their was a new ocean discovered and is not located on the map, what is the name of the ocean? or name all five oceans.

  88. I am as of yet an un-published Children’s book author and illustrator. There are important messages in the stories that I’ve written and drawn that are worth-while and that I’d love to share w/ the world. I need start up capital, in order to get the books out there. I would love to come on the show and win some money, so that I may do just that. Although, I’m 55 years of age, I’m a big kid at heart! I also grew up in Atlanta, where the show’s hosted and would love to go “home” for a visit. Please consider me for an audition. MYy wife and I watch your show religiously and enjoy the hell out of it! Sincerely, Alan Hines

  89. I watch the show regularly and see to be able to answer most of the questions correctly

  90. i believe i could win. ive been watching the show and i do quite well each time. it would really mean alot and i could use the money. it will also be a once in a lifetime oppurtunity.

  91. I would be a great candidate because I very likeable and would be great for ratings.

  92. I have a lot of energy. I believe I would be competition for any 5th grader. I am a winner and I answer the questions correctly. I love to win and I want an opportunity to win money. I have a great sense of humor and I believe I can keep the audience laughing and excited, The audience would cheer me on!! I am smarter than a 5th grader.

  93. I think I m qualified due to my obsessive reading habits and discovered the world in books! It made it all so real. I’m an admitted liberal, and a proud democrat.

  94. I have never seen a true “senior citizen” on your show. I am 83 years young and I have an IQ of 152. I didn’t go to college, but I DID graduate from the “School Of Hard Knocks.” It’s been a while since I was a fifth grader, but I think I could hold my own. We love Jeff and saw him in person when he appeared at Opryland. Bob and I will observe our 65th anniversary in November. I wold love to be a contestant, but don’t wait too long. At our age, we don’t even buy green bananas anymore.

  95. I’ve been an over the road truck driver for 18 years and learned alot traveling the country and watching your show everyday it’s on.I am 46 and on May 13th I will be 47.Would greatly appreciate any consideration.Thank you for your valuable time.

  96. I’m 41 years old and have been a member of the US Army for over 18 years. I’m an intelligence officer and have been deployed to Iraq, among other countries. I scored 1250 on my SATs. I graduated magna cum laude from the University of Arizona and am currently enrolled in the UofA MBA program. I’m stationed in Arizona, but can take leave in order to audition in L.A. I’ve auditioned for the Price is Right back in 2001 and was asked by Bob Barker to “Come on Down…” but I only made it to contestants row. I’m very much a gambler and if I’m forced with choosing between taking less than $10,000 and a bonus question, start asking the question. Anything over $10,000, then it depends on the subject. Math and History, bring it on….science, well, time to start writing the check.

  97. I am from West Virginia, visiting indefinitely with my sons here in LA. First, I love your show and watch it almost ever day. To make a long story short, I am a crazy and wild mom, aggressive, happy, silly, friendly and hankering to be on your show. I could easily be a used car salesman. My husband is a coal miner. The game shows never have anyone from wild and wonderful West Virginia. Hillbilly and all, here I am, ready to rock and roll. Pick me! I have been involved in community theather in Wheeling, WV for many years. In my youth, stardom was in my vision, but alas, 5 children and a marriage later…….well, you get it.

  98. I live in st. Louis from the time it came on Fox 2.
I have watch the questions get tougher and tougher.
Your contestants never win big money.
Your game is not fair. People like to see common folk win some money. Let’s say if you give $5,000 doesn’t cost you much when you consider your distribution. I am going back to nbc 5 and vanna white. bye. bye.
bye the way what happen to great shows like 24 hours. American Idol more than pays for itself too. bye bye

  99. I should be a contestant because I am smarter than a 5th grader. But am I smarter than the 5th graders on the show? I don’t know. Cast me & we can find out. Also I would love the opportunity to meet jeff foxworthy my father is a huge fan & would deeply envy me

  100. I would be a very good contestant for Are You Smarter than a 5th grader because i am smart, funny, and good looking. I also should know everything since I went through 5 grade 4 times! No not really. I am an 8yr Army War Veteran, Ex-model, aspiring comedian, published poet, fast rapper, and semi-professional dodgeball player. Currently a bartender i love making ppl laugh and intellectual conversation. I also can read upside-down and have mongoose-like reflexes! I am single and have no kids so i have a no restrictions to time i can spend for the show. Don’t mind making a fool of myself to amuse others, and am very competetive and grew up poor so will fight for the chance to get my family financially comfortable for the first time ever. I always consider being a co-host to Jeff also if you find you want to see more of me than just the one show!! :^)

  101. I’d like to audition because I watch this show all the time, and I love trivia. I think these shows are a fun way to learn and test what you do and do not know. I am very knowledgeable in many of the subjects on the show, but definitely not all of them. Though I did not apply myself as I should have when I was in school, I now know many of the things I should have known/learned then. I guess I was too busy goofing off and not paying attention, which is a real shame, because I actually love to learn. Unfortunately, I was one of those children who didn’t understand the importance of education until it was too late. (No matter what my parents said… and they said alot…) Since I cannot redo my past, I think this would be a great opportunity to see just how smart I am.

  102. When I was a fifth grader I was a boy scout. I learned to be trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obediant, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, reverent. I learned to be prepared and to do a good turn daily. When I was a fifth grader….John Kennedy was killed. The Mona Lisa was displayed in the USA for the first time. George Wallace became governor of Alabama. Iron Man debuts in Marvel comics. Patsy Cline dies in a plane crash. Alcatraz closes. Beatles release first album. Soap opera General Hospital debuts. Coca Cola introduces it’s first diet drink,TAB. First James Bond movie debuts in US theaters, Dr.NO. Last Mercury spacecraft launched. Zip codes introduced in the USA. Pro football hall of fame opens in Canton. US ratifies nuclear test ban treaty. Push button phone made available to AT&T customers. Instant replay invented in sports TV. Frank Sinatra Jr. kidnapped. Smiley face symbol invented. Charles Barkley born. This, along with decades more of learning and knowledge absorption, makes me a great selection for the show. I was an excellent student, athelete, and showed great citizenship growing up. I was the CLASS CLOWN and continue that tradition to this day. I think your show needs a big winner to increase popularity, and I am that winner. I have a GREAT family that taught me well growing up, and that I now pass on to the younger generations of my family. My selection will be a boost to ratings. I am also a newlywed of 11 months, to a woman I have known for 38 years, a father of 4 and grandfather of 1. Thank you for your consideration.

  103. I am a MSG in the US Army and I know I am smarter than a 5th grader. I have travel with the military most of my life. I will win the 250,000, no doubt! If you are looking for some MAJOR excitement, call me.

  104. I am a 56 year old bachelor and everyone calls me for answers on everything. I would like to find out if I am smarter than a 5th grader. I am a college graduate with honors but went home to run the family farm. I read a lot and keep up on most things. I work in a small town farm store. My interest vary in lots of areas. School was never hard for me and I have been told I have a photo graphic memory on things I have learned over the years.
If you are looking for a small town farm boy let’s give it a try.
Look forward to hearing back from you and the challenge of being smarter than a 5th grader.

  105. I should be chosen as a contestant because I was so smart in elementary school that I almost skipped the fifth grade. However due to my small size at that time I did not want to meet up with larger kids sooner than I would have to. Don’t laugh, I lived in a tough neighborhood.

  106. I should be chosen for the are you smarter than a fifth grader game show because I was so smart in elementary school that I almost skipped the fifth grade. My only problem was since bullying was not outlawed at that time, I stood the risk of being pummeled into the ground by 6th graders who were much larger than me. Don’t laugh, I lived in a very tough neighborhood.

  107. I have watched your show since the very beginning and loved it. I’ve taught 6th grade for 27 years and would love to try my hand at proving that I’m SMARTER THAN A 5TH GRADER! Coming & auditioning would be no problem for me, in fact, I’d enjoy the vacation. Please let this young teacher at heart show you how it’s done!

  108. I just recently graduated High School as valedictorian. For 12 years straight I never received any grade lower than an A. Now a Freshman in college, I am confident I can take this challenge a prove that I truly am smarter than a 5th grader.

  109. We would like to audition for the engaged couples shows because together we just might be “Smarter than a Fifth Grader.”

  110. My name is Dave Goss, and I should be considered for “Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?” because I am extraordinarily good looking and am really, really cool. Also, I was raised by wolves. Also, I am really smart. . . AT LEAST smarter than a 4th grader. Also, I can do one or more of the following: 1)Run 2)Jump 3)Juggle 4)Hoot 5)Holler 6)Dance 8)Howl 9)Count all the way to 100.

And on a more serious note, I am a stay-at-home dad whose family is in need of money. My wife and I have been trying to purchase our first home but have run into some immovable roadblocks. We do everything we can to provide for our two girls, but in these tough economic times we are finding it more and more difficult to make ends meet. If you bring me on the show, who knows? Maybe I’ll outsmart some 5th graders and win a bunch of money. At the very least, I’ll make the audience laugh.

So when can I audition? Can I send you a video? What should I do on it? Who should I send it to? Can you give me an advance of $50,000? I’m good for it. . . or I will be, once I win all of your money.

Anyway, thank you for your consideration. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
