30 years after the release of 1982’s Conan the Barbarian Universal studios has announced the return of the popular movie. In even better news the 65-year- old Arnold Schwarzenegger has signed up for the return of Conan The Barbarian on the big screen as well. The project is only in the script stage right now, but Universal sounds high on the idea for a tentative summer 2014 release with filming set to begin in the beginning of 2013. Chris Morgan has been slated as a the screenwriter for the project along with Fredrik Malmberg as the director. The full cast of the movie has not yet been not announced but the casting directors are now taking applications for numerous roles. This is a great opportunity for anyone that is looking to break into the industry.
As explained by Fredrik Malmberg “The original ended with Arnold on the throne as a seasoned warrior, and this is the take of the film we will make…It’s that Nordic Viking mythic guy who has played the role of king, warrior, soldier and mercenary, and who has bedded more women than anyone, nearing the last cycle of his life. He knows he’ll be going to Valhalla, and wants to go out with a good battle.” “I always loved the Conan character and I’m honored to be asked to step into the role once again,” Schwarzenegger said.
