Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures have announced that they will be doing a new Godzilla movie for the Summer 2014 season. During Comic-con 2012, director Gareth Edwards participated in a Godzilla panel, in which they screened a new teaser trailer, described as so, a destroyed city is seen. Gareth got his bebut in the movie Monsters. Toho Co., Ltd.’s Godzilla franchise contains one of the most widely recognized movie monsters worldwide, including more than 25 films, multiple television programs, video games and book series.Legendary’s Thomas Tull and Jon Jashni will produce, along with Roy Lee, Dan Lin and Brian Rogers. Alex Garcia and Patricia Whitcher will serve as executive producers alongside Doug Davison, Yoshimitsu Banno and Kenji Okuhira. The casting directors are now taking applications for extras and several feature roles for Godzilla. This is an awesome opportunity for anyone that is looking to break into the acting industry along with anyone that is a fan of the franchise.
According to Thomas Tull, chairman and CEO of Legendary Pictures, “Our plans are to produce the Godzilla that we, as fans, would want to see. We intend to do justice to those essential elements that have allowed this character to remain as pop culturally relevant for as long as it has.” The directors do not plan on changing too much of the film and they want to stick to the original plot but more modernized. The full plot along with details have not yet been released.
The casting directors are now taking applications for several roles along with extras and supporting roles. I have already sent a submission. More than a fan, I own all 30 Godzilla films in both languages (among other Kaiju related things) and would be very much interested to have either a small role or work background. I’m predominently a stage actor and have membership with a sister union. I have been an extra for two Warner Bros. films, most recently “The Dark Knight Rises.” I’ve been a fan of Godzilla ever since I was 4 years old when I saw “Godzilla 1985” and would be more than willing to travel to Vancouver, even to be an extra.
