Monopoly, which was set up at Universal when Hasbro signed a multiproperty pact in 2008, is to be the first project before cameras for another of Hasbro’s movies. Hasbro has had mixed success with movies based on its toys. Transformers is a billion-dollar franchise for Paramount and Battleships. Monopoly will be one of many movies that they plan on releasing. Emmett/Furla Films has entered an agreement with Hasbro, Inc. to make the movie that is set to begin filming in 2013. The casting directors are now taking applications for numerous roles for the new film. This is a great opportunity for anyone that is looking to break into the acting industry.
According to Hasbro CEO “’Monopoly’ is a very human and personal story… It’s a fictionalized story of a family, and there’s a lot of intrigue in the story. Suffice it to say, it’s a story about a family with a history, and we’re projecting that into current times… It’s more about property ownership and of the play-pattern of the game.” He has also said that they wanted to make the movie about the idea of greed. And said “you know your game can turn your sweetest, dearest aunt into a demon — a nightmare of greed. So that’s what we’re going to do.”
Although the full cast has not yet been announced the casting directors are now taking applications for several roles for Monopoly.
