The cancellation of the popular Lifetime Network show Drop Dead Diva didn’t last long, since we have learned that the show has been brought back for its fifth season. The one-hour drama centers around the misadventures of aspiring model Deborah “Deb” Dobkins, who, after dying in a car crash, returns to earth in the plus-sized body of lawyer Jane Bingum. With Drop Dead Diva coming back, it will join scripted dramas The Client List, returning March 10; the recently rebooted Army Wives; upcoming drama Witches of East End; and Marc Cherry’s rookie soap Devious Maids. Season 4 wrapped back in September and we are unsure of the exact return date of season 5, but the casting directors are now holding castings and auditions for both union and non union actors of all ages. Drop Dead Diva revolves around a vapid blonde aspiring model, Deborah “Deb” Dobkins (played by Brooke D’Orsay), who is killed in a car crash on the way to an audition for The Price Is Right. He declared her a “zero-zero”, she has performed zero good deeds and zero bad acts during her time on earth due to her shallowness.
The casting directors are now taking applications for union and non union actors of all ages for several stand in and extra roles.
