The Monuments Men Movie Castings

George Clooney has recruited his good friend Matt Damon to star in his new movie The Monuments Men. The Monuments Men, a World War 2 thriller that chronicles the U.S. Government’s efforts to recapture precious artwork stolen by the Nazi regime. Matt Damon will star along Daniel Craig (“Skyfall”), Jean Dujardin (“The Artist”), Cate Blanchett (“The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey”), Bill Murray (“Zombieland”) and John Goodman (“Flight”) in The Monuments Men that Clooney co-wrote and will direct. This film is turning into one of the most talented ensembles in a film in the past few years, and the casting is not yet done because the casting directors are still taking applications for numorues supporting roles and extra roles in the film. This is a great opportunity for any aspiring actor to join the all star cast in The Monuments Men.

Set during WW2, the film is based on Robert M. Edsel’s non-fiction story of the same name, and will follow a group of Allied art experts charged with locating and recovering the many treasures Hitler had seized to be destroyed. Clooney is to play the role of a US army officer and leading art conservationist George Stout, who repatriated tens of thousands of pieces of art from the Nazis. Blanchett plays Rose Valland, an art historian and member of the French resistance. Damon and Craig’s roles are as yet unclear but Clooney is searching for someone to portray New York City ballet co-founder and art connoisseur Lincoln Kirstein, who was personally involved with retrieving artworks around Munich and in the salt mines at Altaussee during the war. The casting directors are now on a national search for several supporting roles for The Monuments Men.
