Last year, The CW planned to add a new pilot called The Selection to its line-up, but the project was put on the back burner. Now, it seems it’s been given a second chance and it the executives are working really hard on finding the new cast for their show. The selection is an adaptation of the book series by Kiera Cass and it’s thought to be developed as a remake of Hunger Games movie. The cast from the first pilot is expected to change, but the CW and The Selection studio Warner Bros TV are looking to keep the lead Friday Night Lights‘ Aimee Teegarden who seemed to be the stand out in the original pilot. The casting directors are now looking for male and female actors for several roles in the series. This is a great opportunity for aspiring actors waiting for their big break in a new television series.
Based on the books by Kiera Cass, The Selection is described an epic romance set 300 years in the future which centers on a poor young woman (Friday Night Lights’ Aimee Teegarden) who is chosen by lottery to participate in a competition to become the next queen of a war-torn nation at a crossroads. If the series turn out like The Hunger Games the CW is going to have a hit show on their hands. In selecting me to be considered it’d be giving me the chance at a break into the industry as well as a chance to take me away from Oklahoma which I wouldn’t be given without the Selection. In all honesty, throughout my acting career here in Oklahoma, I’ve always found I best portray the characters I relate to more and I’ve never found a character I could relate to more than America Singer. This opportunity would do more than just give a small town girl a chance at her dreams though, it would provide me with the opportunity to do something more and represent something more than just myself to an audience that would listen.
Even if I’m not chosen to be considered in the Selection, I believe all of the girls should be cast with unknown faces to give them their chance like the Selection gave all of the real characters a chance. Celeste is the only character that could be feasibly cast as a celebrity and even then I think it would be a stretch.
I ask these things not only as a hopeful candidate to play America Singer, but as a fan of these books Kiera Cass worked so hard at and so many of us love so deeply. Regardless of how you cast the Selection, please do not forget the thousands of girls hoping to find themselves in America, don’t insert Hollywood too much into America because that’s not who she is. Keep the America Singer from the books in the movie please.

I have always had a passion for the arts and if I were to be considered I know you will see my passion on camera as well.
I am 26 years old and in school for teaching. I have been in several musicals at a local community theater. The two most recent shows I have been in were “Take It easy: the new 40’s musical” where I played the lead Susan Bradshaw and “Gypsy” where I was one of the Toreadorables but had to fill in as one of the featured roles (Electra) the last two nights. Performing is my passion and I would love to expand my acting abilities to film and tv.
My name is Asha Crawford I am a 20 year old junior Mass Communications major with a minor in Theatre at the University of West Georgia. I have worked on two T.V. shows Tyler Perry’s For Better or Worse Season Two as well as The Game Season 6. I am very experienced in Film and Tv for I have been apart of many plays one I did at Albany State called “The Love Life” play.
